Surkanda Devi Temple

Surkanda Devi Temple is a famous shrine and short trek also located near Kaddukhal, 24 kms from the town of Chamba, 40kms from Mussoorie and around 90km From Rishikesh. and nearest and famous trek of kanatal & dhanaulti. Surkanda devi temple is also famous as Shakti peeth of Maa sati, who was the wife of the ascetic god Shiva and daughter of the Puranic god-king Daksha.. Mythology says that ‘head’ of Devi Sati fell on this place naming the place as ‘Sirkhanda Devi’ which was later renamed as ‘Surkanda Devi Temple’ by localites. It is situated at an altitube of around 2756 metres/ 10000 ft & very much famous for Kanatal trek among adventure lovers. At the top of Surkanda devi peak, You can take a beautiful 360 degree view of beautiful snow caped himalayas. It is one of the best and must visited places in Dhanaulti & kanatal. Anyone between 12 to 60 years, Religious people, Nature and Adventure Lovers they will love the trek. You can also enjoy snow during the trek in winter session in the month of january.
